33

I have three children under four. I never know what random items I will find around the house. Most recently-discovered object: a birthday card addressed to me from my bride's parents. Now my birthday was four months ago, less one day. Where this card has been for those months I don't know. But now, it's on the bathroom floor, right in front of the toilet. Hmmm. I read the cover: "Celebrate"; on the inside? "Happy 33!" Perplexed, I wondered, "why 33? I'm only 32." I wandered out to my adorable bride (who's always right) and shared this unusual event with her. Her response? Giggles.

Surprise! I'm 33! I'm going to be 34 this year! All of a sudden I feel a lot closer to 40. Yikes! I thought 30's-ish folk had things kindof together, a certain momentum and certainty. I still feel like my life is a collection of some very polished and some quite rough puzzle pieces showing only a half-connected, sneak preview of the picture-to-be.

Ah, well. My wife has been telling me I'm old since before we got married on the 30th day of July, 2005**. It must be true. I'm forgetting how old I am.

**best day of my life, Lili, except they keep on getting better!
